JioHotstar, the newly unified streaming service resulting from the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, has officially gone live. This launch follows the late 2024 merger of Viacom18 and Star India, forming JioStar ,a media powerhouse backed by Reliance and The Walt Disney Company.
With an estimated 500 million users at launch, JioHotstar is poised to become India’s leading OTT platform, offering a diverse content library that includes Bollywood and Hollywood films, regional programming, original web series, live sports, and international content. The service introduces new features such as multi-angle sports streaming, AI-driven content recommendations, and multi-language support.
Subscription Plans:
JioHotstar offers multiple subscription tiers catering to different user preferences:
- Mobile Plan: ₹149 for three months (₹499 annually) – Access on one mobile device.
- Super Plan: ₹299 for three months (₹899 annually) – Streaming on two devices.
- Premium Plan (Ad-Free): ₹499 for three months (₹1,499 annually) – Streaming on up to four devices.
Premium users will enjoy higher resolution streaming, an ad-free experience (except live sports), and multi-device viewing.
Expansive Content Library & AI-Powered Features
JioHotstar boasts a content catalog exceeding 300,000 hours, featuring Bollywood hits, regional cinema, Hollywood films, and acclaimed web series. The platform supports over 19 languages, making entertainment more accessible to audiences across India. AI-powered recommendations further enhance the viewing experience by tailoring content suggestions to user preferences.

Exclusive Streaming Rights & Sports Coverage
JioHotstar has secured exclusive digital rights to content from Disney, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO, and Paramount, along with anime, documentaries, and reality programming. The platform has also launched Sparks, a digital-first initiative featuring leading Indian content creators.
For sports fans, JioHotstar is set to be a major hub, offering live streaming of IPL, WPL, ISL, ICC events, Wimbledon, and Pro Kabaddi League, alongside exclusive coverage of domestic and international cricket in partnership with the BCCI and state cricket associations.
