AMD’S announcement in CES 2025
AMD made waves at CES 2025 with the official announcement of its Radeon RX 9000 Series graphics cards, slated for release on March 6, 2025. Positioned as a direct competitor to Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce RTX 50 Series, AMD is focusing on the sub $1,000 (₹83,000) market, aiming to deliver high performance at a more accessible price point rather than chasing the ultra-premium segment.
The new RDNA 4 architecture brings significant improvements, including double the raytracing performance per compute unit, 8x more AI processing power, and a 20% boost in media quality. It also supports the latest connectivity standards like PCIe Gen5, HDMI 2.1b, and DisplayPort 2.1a.
Frank Azor, AMD’s Chief Director of Gaming Solutions, highlighted the company’s strategy to focus on the majority of gamers who purchase GPUs under $1,000, rather than competing in the ultra-high-end market. This approach aligns with AMD’s goal of making high-performance gaming more affordable and accessible.
With 2025 shaping up to be a pivotal year for PC gaming, thanks to new architectures from AMD, Nvidia, and Intel, the Radeon RX 9000 Series is poised to capitalize on upcoming titles like GTA VI (PC version), Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and Avowed. By offering competitive performance at a lower price, AMD is set to make 4K gaming more attainable for a broader audience, challenging Nvidia’s dominance in the high-end GPU market.
